Amid the heightened tensions in the Middle-East and tit-for-tat strikes between Iran and Pakistan, the “Sorya” satellite of the Space Organization was successfully launched into space by the three-stage solid fuel satellite “Qaim 100” of the IRGC Aerospace Force. The launch, conducted this Saturday morning, saw the satellite successfully placed in a 750 km orbit, establishing a new record.

The event was attended by Major General Hossein Salami, Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hassan Salarieh, Head of the Space Organization, General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, Commander of the Aerospace Force of the IRGC, and various national and military officials.

The Soraya research satellite, with a mass of approximately 50 kg, achieved orbit in just 11 minutes, traveling at a speed of 7478 meters per second. This successful launch follows the sub-orbital launch of the Qaim 100 satellite carrier by the IRGC Aerospace Force in November of the previous year.

The Qaim 100 is notable for being the country’s first three-stage solid fuel satellite carrier, featuring the Rafi solid fuel engine in its first stage. The recent flight test of this satellite carrier with the Rafi engine proved successful, marking a significant milestone in Iran’s aerospace capabilities. The Qaim 100 solid fuel satellite carrier, equipped with three stages of solid fuel, has the capacity to place satellites weighing up to 80 kg in a 750 km orbit from the Earth’s surface.
